LIHUE — Mock County Council meetings will give a last look at the candidates vying for a spot in the top seven in the general election.
The public is invited to join Community Coalition Kauai on Sept. 24 for a mock County Council meeting as a way to get to know what the council candidates think about growth management and future land use for Kauai.
The event will start at 6 p.m. at the Kauai War Memorial Convention Hall in Lihue.
This forum aims to address whether the candidates can critically consider if Kauai is losing its last rural and remote island settings, or if the island is on track for a desired future.
Expert panelists will open the evening with short presentations about the facts and information on these subjects.
The candidates will then deliberate and work toward solutions as they might as councilmembers.
This is the first of two forums. The second forum will focus on climate change and will be held on Oct. 18 at Kilauea’s Anaina Hou Community Park Porter Pavilion at 6 p.m.
Voter registration will be available at the forum.
