WAIMEA — Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital has been recognized by Premier Inc. as a recipient of the Premier Hospital Improvement Innovation Network Excellence in Patient Safety Across the Board Award.
This award recognizes Hawaii Health Systems Corporation, Kauai Region — Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital’s commitment and execution, from the C- suite to the bedside, to creating a culture of patient safety and for delivery of high quality, safe, reliable care and services to the patients they serve, said a press release.
Premier is one of 16 HIIN’s for the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services national Partnership for Patients initiative. The Premier HIIN is working collaboratively with 496 hospitals in 40 states, using a Safety Across the Board (SAB) approach, to improve the quality and safety of care, reduce preventable harm across 13 topic areas, enhance patient and family engagement and the culture of safety.
Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital is one of 27 hospitals to receive the Premier HIIN Excellence in Patient SAB Award and to be recognized at the Premier HIIN June 19 national meeting in Nashville. To be eligible for the award, hospitals had to demonstrate both exceptional performance and participation in the Premier HIIN program.
“Participation in this initiative reinforces our commitment to excellence and our ability to deliver the best care experience to our community,” said Lance K. Segawa, Regional Chief Executive Officer. “We’re proud to receive the Premier HIIN Award as we continue down our path of reducing hospital acquired conditions and readmissions.”
