LIHUE — Hundreds of free dual-certified helmets are waiting for keiki at the Keiki Bike & Skateboard Safety Day on Saturday presented by the Wilcox Medical Center with help from a number of community organizations.
Dual-certification means the helmets can be used for bicycle riding, or skateboarding, and is available for keiki while supplies last.
Opening from 8 to 11 a.m., keiki must be registered to take advantage of the free helmet fitting and giveaway while supplies last in the Wilcox Medical Center back parking lot located past Same-Day Surgery. Registration forms are available at www.WilcoxHealth.org/BikeandSafety. Completed forms must be brought to the event during check in.
Keiki receive a Passport on checking in and by collecting stamps at the different activity stations laid out in the parking lot, have an opportunity to win a new bicycle, or new skateboard which will be given away throughout the three-hour event.
Some of the activity stations include the free helmet fitting station, a bicycle and skateboard safety inspection stations, a bicycle and skateboard skills enhancement course, and more.
