Registrations will be accepted at the door, Saturday. However, advance registration with checks payable to the Kauai Hongwanji Council is greatly appreciated, said Rev. Tomo Hojo of the West Kauai Hongwanji Mission.
Dr. Kenneth Kenshin Tanaka, Professor Emeritus, Musashino University in Tokyo, Japan, will be the featured guest speaker.
Tanaka is the 2017 recipient of the 27th Nakamura Hajime Eastern Study Prize that is awarded to scholars who distinguish themselves in the field of Indian and Buddhist studies. He was featured in a special one-hour NHK Educational Television documentary series entitled “The Age of Kokoro (heart/mind)” on April 8, the observed birthday of the Buddha.
He serves as chairman of the editorial committee of the Chinese Buddhist Canon English Translation Project sponsored by the Society for the Promotion of Buddhism, and was recently appointed Adjunct Researcher at the Hongwanji Comprehensive Research Center.
