KAPAA — Learn about the impact cesspools are having on drinking water and sensitive surface waters at a Hawaii State Department of Health meeting scheduled for Aug. 1, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Kapaa Neighborhood Center.
Officials with DOH will explain the report they submitted to the Hawaii Legislature in December, based on an analysis of existing cesspool data and water quality samples collected. The department identifies 14 priority areas in the report statewide where cesspools are beginning to affect drinking water, streams and beaches.
The DOH also will be meeting with residents on Oahu and Hawaii Island.
