POIPU — The county will begin relocating the Poipu lifeguard tower on Tuesday morning.
The tower will be moved 75 yards east of its current location. Work is expected to be completed by Wednesday.
As a safety precaution, officials will be blocking off a portion of the area while work is being done.
The public will still be able to access the beach during this time, and lifeguard services will continue as normal.
The relocation of the Poipu lifeguard tower is to prepare for the Ocean Safety Bureau’s new Nukumoi lifeguard tower, which is anticipated to be installed in April between Waiohai Beach and Poipu Beach Park.
Once that tower is installed, there will be two lifeguard towers servicing the Poipu area.
