POIPU — Improvements to a $670,000 Poipu Beach Park project are complete, according to the Department of Parks and Recreation.
The Poipu project was part of the DOPR’s “Super Parks” initiative in an effort to upgrade its heavily used park facilities.
The initiative began with the refurbishment of the structures at Lydgate Beach Park, and it is part of Mayor Bernard Carvalho Jr.’s Holo Holo 2020 vision for Kauai.
“This completes the work at Poipu Beach Park that started with the renovation of the west comfort station as part of our efforts to transform our high-user parks into super parks,” said Director of Parks and Recreation Lenny Rapozo.
The scope of work included replacing fixtures in the main comfort station and improvements to the pavilions, playground and showers at the popular beach park.
Pacific Blue Construction was awarded the contract for the project.
